The county also provides several different types of care and services for persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders, and for the general population in general. One such service is the county’s Substance Abuse Treatment Program or SATS. This is a 24-hour facility that provides both inpatient and outpatient care. Those who are accepted into the program receive treatment from licensed professionals who specialize in the field of substance abuse treatment. The Substance Abuse Treatment Program coordinates with the local mental health and social services departments to provide individuals with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders with quality care that is focused on their specific needs.
The county also runs its own cooperative prevention and diversion program for persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders. The goal of this initiative is to target high-risk individuals, while educating the public about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. This is a voluntary effort that is funded in part by a grant from the State of California. Many of the county’s substance abuse types of care outpatient specialty clinics also participate in this program.
