Sober Living by Design for Recovery is an addiction treatment program based in Los Angeles County. It is also known as The Bridge Program and The Halfway House. This is one of many programs in the State of California designed to help addicts and alcoholics stay sober. Sober Living by Design is one of the more successful of the programs. It can be considered a halfway house, as it allows the person in recovery to do things like go to work and be away from their substance of choice while still making progress towards recovery.
One of the benefits of having a sober living home is that you will have a support network close by to help you deal with any setbacks. Addiction is a dangerous disease and you want to be sure that if your loved one is receiving any type of treatment at all they are getting the best possible care. I know of one case where a patient was discharged home after receiving an injection of medicine to recover from a drug overdose. Just days later the patient returned home claiming that his health had been deteriorating rapidly and he would not be able to handle his daily responsibilities without the assistance of staff members at the sober living facility. The staff members took the medicine and forgot about the patient and never showed any concern or emotion. The patient died from an overdose on this very same day.
If you are looking for a way to help your loved one to kick the habit, you might consider a transitional sober living home for them. Many transitional halfway houses exist in the State of California. Many times these transitional homes are designed around a specific addiction and may offer everything your loved one needs to get back on their feet and function normally.
