If you or someone you love is fighting the temptation to become addicted to drugs or alcohol, don’t let them control your life. You have the power to break free from this vicious cycle of dependency. The good news is that there are qualified professionals available to assist you in becoming clean. At a well-respected U of A Department of Psychology in Tucson Arizona, you can be treated for your addictions to alcohol and drugs. The U of A is accredited by most insurance companies and has a variety of benefits for their patients seeking substance abuse treatment.
The Psychology department at the U of A is conducting a research study to follow-up on the outcomes of patients on an inpatient substance abuse treatment program following their discharge. The research, which is being conducted by the American Psychological Association, will compare how the patients who left the program inpatient and those who were discharged found their self-destructive behaviors in check. Those patients who were in group therapy or individual therapy were compared to a control group. The study is examining the differences in substance abuse and follow-up outcomes between the two groups. An addiction recovery expert is leading the research effort.
This study is important as it gives us a statistical look at those who leave an inpatient treatment program for follow-up. It is known that many people relapse shortly after leaving addiction treatment programs, so it is critical that the recovery rates are comparable among those who enter and stay in these programs. This information will help practitioners, counselors and other staff members to understand the differences in effectiveness when they are developing and/or providing treatment for mental disorders and addictions.
