Information about Drug Rehabs in Hartselle, Alabama

Hartselle, Alabama is located in North Alabama and is not exactly a great place to look for an addiction treatment center. The town has a few motels, a few restaurants, and some other small businesses, but there is no large center to be found. Not everyone is a fan of the name, but it has been used for many years and has not been forgotten.

The town itself has a lot of history to go with it. In the early 1900’s the General Albert Hartselle, while serving in the Confederate Army, was wounded and transported from the battlefields by train to Madison, Alabama, where he resided for most of his life, serving as mayor.

There was one man who really made his mark on Hartselle. That man was Stanley Milgram. Stanley Milgram was a psychologist, and he developed a series of experiments that showed that obedience to authority leads to one person doing the wrong thing.

Those experiments were called ‘The Efficacy of Law Enforcement and Resistance to Authority’ (The Milgram Affair). They are still remembered today, and there are those who are not so happy about Stanley Milgram’s influence in Hartselle.

But the good deeds of Hartselle is not forgotten. Many of the residents of Hartselle have been involved in some way with the local legal system. One of those residents is now a Superior Court Judge and she is very proud of her hometown.

On the courthouse grounds is a statue that is said to honor the town of Hartselle, Alabama. It is known as the “Cedar Dancer”, and it is designed to represent that the townspeople loved the old and improved their town through hard work.

The town of Hartselle is not perfect. There are, however, several things that can be done to improve the community and make it a little more appealing to visitors. One idea that is floating around is to use an old railroad and turn it into a miniature town.

The train and its track would not be too easy to get to, so why not rent a house and have some people live there? The town would be decorated with flowers and there would be a hamper of groceries at every door. This would not only be a beautiful and romantic way to celebrate the town’s history, but it would also be a fun way to have a summer day!

The history of Hartselle is not complete without including the famous, many horses that were in the Hartselle stables. There is a little known fact about the horses: they were built with all the horses in Hartselle stables being intentionally headless.

Some of the animals on display in the Hartselle Animal Farm exhibit are shown to be living here. A little known fact about them is that many of them are descended from the many horses and mules that were confiscated by the US Marshals Service in the Civil War. The horses were part of the evidence for capturing Union soldiers who may have deserted and went over to the side of the Confederacy.

So, if you are visiting Hartselle, Alabama for a weekend getaway or a family trip, take a ride on the old train. You will not be disappointed, and you may just be inspired to add some of the town’s history to your own! Happy hunting!
